  • AboutThis web site and blog is for those dedicated to living and promoting the bicycling lifestyle in The Buckeye State. The name of this site was inspired by the Smoke Free Ohio/Smoke Less Ohio campaigns of the election of 2007. I am not anti-car; I own a car and rely on it like most people. I know that bicycling is not necessarily for everyone, and I certainly don’t believe that anyone should be forced to ride a bike. I only believe that if we make it easier for those who choose to use the bicycle as a normal, practical means of transportation, then all of us, drivers and non-drivers alike, will benefit. You can help spread the word by requesting your FREE CarFreeOhio/CarLessOhio stickers! I started this site with the intention of being a comprehensive resource for any and all things related to cycling in Ohio, but I quickly realized that would be a daunting and never-ending task. So, I now post news about events, rides, and other organizations that I find relevant or interesting, and write stories about my own rides and bike-related stuff that i like. If anybody else finds it interesting, then great; if not, so be it. I…

Thanks to @summitmetroparks (I assume?) for starting the work to reconfigure the dangerous intersection where the Bike & Hike Trail crosses Seasons Road in Hudson. The previous painted crossing lane left you out like a sitting 🦆 right where eastbound traffic made the turn onto Sullivan Road. This will be a big improvement! An even bigger improvement would be a traffic light; it’s near impossible to get through there during rush hour. Thx to @all_around_cyclery for suggesting and hooking me up with these @teravail Camrock tires for my #RitcheyAcsent. They are a worthy replacement for the venerable Vittoria Mezcals that finally gave up the ghost. I tried them out this past Sunday on the #RedEagleGravelGrinder short route (sorry; no pics from that ride). They are an excellent choice if you’re looking for an aggressive multi surface tire—fast and quiet on pavement, stick like glue on gravel from fine to chunky. Really helped me cruise through the chonkiest part of the #FallsGravel #Route8Gravel on my #BikeCommuting route this morning! Finally capped off the bag collection on my #RitcheyAscent with a Stem Cell Top Tube Bag from @broadforkbags to match the handlebar bag, Bar Buckets, and full frame bag. Fantastic work as always! #BridgeToNowhere Some sprinkles in the morning soon cleared up, making for a cool and pleasant 42 miles on the 7th and final day of #GOBA2026. I chose the longest mileage option every day for a total of 389 miles in the week. This is the farm where they grow the Giant Yellow Hoses. #GOBA #GOBA Day 6, 52 miles, #Goldilocks weather! #GOBA Day 6 32 miles were wet out of 50 on Day 5 of #GOBA. Leftovers from last night’s dinner were key to mid-ride fueling.
